Dorothy Umoh, DNP, APRN, FNP – BC, is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner with several years of experience as a nurse practitioner (NP) and currently works in a family clinic in Texas. Umoh is experienced in the primary care of pediatric and adult patients of all ages. Her career in the medical field began as a nursing assistant. Umoh slowly climbed the ladder to becoming a doctorate-prepared NP.

Dorothy Umoh was a registered nurse (RN) for over 20 years before becoming NP. During her time as an RN, Umoh frequently assumed the role of mentoring entry-level RNs voluntarily and by designation. As NP, Umoh has mentored new NP graduates formally and informally and collaborated with experienced NPs to achieve better outcomes for patients.

Dorothy Umoh is no stranger to the business world. Umoh owned and operated a successful home health agency and sold it to meet the strenuous requirements of the NP program. Umoh is an active member of several professional and community organizations, including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, Texas Nurse Practitioners, and the North Texas Nurse Practitioners. Umoh has a master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner and earned a doctorate degree in Nursing Practice from Maryville University, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

She is married and has raised six children. Her hobbies include reading and research. Umoh supports several humanitarian causes and is a passionate advocate for the empowerment of NPs through mentorship and any other means necessary.
